A total of 30 motorists were caught committing traffic offences at Woodlands Checkpoint during the Vesak Day long weekend, from May 28 to June 1, 2026 [1, 2, 3]. Offences included queue-cutting, crossing double white lines, illegal right turns, and stopping in dangerous positions causing obstruction or undue inconvenience [1, 2, 3].
Among those motorists, 9 were driving foreign-registered vehicles and received entry bans into Singapore for their offences [1, 2, 3]. Meanwhile, 21 motorists were directed to make a U-turn and re-queue at the checkpoint [1, 2, 3]. Fifteen of the offenders were referred to the Traffic Police for further action [2, 3].
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) urged travellers to comply with traffic laws and maintain lane discipline at land checkpoints to ensure safety. The ICA warned that violations could compromise the safety of other motorists [1]. In a statement, ICA said, "We seek travellers’ continued patience and understanding, and to cooperate with our officers, comply with traffic laws and maintain lane discipline when using the land checkpoints, to create a safer and more pleasant experience for all" [2].
The enforcement results and reminders to travellers were publicly announced by ICA on June 5, 2026 [1, 2, 3].
