The Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) conducted four pilot caregiving training programmes for domestic helpers between mid-2025 and mid-2026, covering dementia care, elderly care, infant care, and first aid [1, 2, 3].
A total of 377 foreign domestic helpers completed these courses, which operated with a nominal registration fee of 10 SGD [1, 2, 3]. The dementia care training ran from July 2025 to January 2026 in six sessions, training 88 helpers [1]. The elderly care and caregiver self-care course took place from September 2025 to May 2026, with 139 helpers participating [1].
The first aid and emergency response programme trained 117 helpers to improve home emergency readiness [1]. An infant care pilot ran in February and March 2026, training 33 helpers in early childcare [1].
CDE said the programmes helped improve domestic helpers’ skills, confidence, and relationships with their employers [1, 2, 3]. Priyanti, a domestic helper, said she was initially scared because she didn’t know what to do but now feels more assured. "I really don’t want to leave her," she said about her charge [2].
The trainings culminated in CDE’s 10th anniversary event on June 21, 2026, held at Resorts World Sentosa with 600 helpers, employers, and partners attending [1, 2, 3]. Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash spoke at the event, saying, “外籍帮佣支持我们的年长者,照顾我们的孩子,打理我们的家务。正因有她们,新加坡人才能安心工作,因为知道自己的家人得到妥善的照顾,” highlighting the crucial role foreign domestic helpers play in Singapore families [1].
CDE also announced plans to relocate its centre from Bras Basah to Rex House on Bukit Timah Road to be closer to the community [1].
