Sharizal Shafi’ee, 40, a former Singapore police officer, was sentenced on May 29, 2026, to three years in prison and four strokes of the cane for sexually molesting a 15-year-old student while dressed as a woman near an HDB staircase landing [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Sharizal pleaded guilty to five charges related to sexual offences against three 15-year-old boys. The charges included molestation, procuring obscene acts, and producing child abuse material by recording two teens engaged in sexual acts [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Investigations also revealed he had coaxed two 15-year-old boys into performing sexual acts on video calls in 2023 and 2024, secretly recording one call lasting more than 12 minutes [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Police found at least 32 videos on Sharizal’s phone showing men performing sexual acts over a six-month period [1, 5]. His method involved dressing as a woman with makeup and wearing a bra when approaching the boys, pretending to seek help adjusting the bra before molesting one 15-year-old near a school [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Sharizal served as a police officer for 17 years before being removed from frontline duties. He resigned in June 2024 following the allegations [1, 2, 3, 4]. He was arrested about 10 days after the molestation incident on April 18, 2024, around April 28, 2024 [1, 2, 3, 4].

The court took into consideration 10 additional charges during sentencing [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. The conviction marks the formal end of a legal process begun with charges filed after his arrest in 2024.

Sharizal’s sentence will begin immediately, with prison and caning to be administered according to Singapore law.
