Purwadi Wahyudi, 40, allegedly poisoned chicken satay with rat poison and sent it to his 57-year-old mother-in-law, Aminah, causing her death in May 2026 in Indonesia [1, 2]. On May 18, Purwadi purchased the satay, laced it with poison, and arranged delivery via courier service Gosend to Aminah [1, 2].

To conceal his identity, Purwadi used the name and photo of his sister-in-law, Luriyanti Putri, on the delivery app account [1, 2]. The courier driver became suspicious after seeing Purwadi instead of the expected female sender and questioned him; Purwadi claimed to be the victim’s son [1, 2].

Aminah was found dead at her home on May 19 by her daughter Luriyanti, with vomit covering her body, prompting suspicion of poisoning [1, 2]. Her body was exhumed on May 30 for forensic examination [1, 2]. The police forensic lab confirmed rat poison in Aminah’s organs, vomit residue, the satay skewers, and a dead chicken believed to have consumed contaminated food [1, 2].

Indra Maulana Saputra, police chief of Boyolali regency, said, "Forensic results and an autopsy conducted by the Central Java Regional Police’s forensic laboratory found rat poison in the victim’s body. This was the cause of the victim’s death." [2]

Authorities suspect Purwadi killed Aminah out of feelings of disrespect and isolation at her hands [1, 2]. He was arrested, admitted to poisoning the food, and held as a suspect [1, 2]. Under Indonesian law, he faces the death penalty or at least 20 years in prison if convicted [1, 2].

Purwadi was publicly charged with the poisoning on June 8, 2026, marking the latest step in the case [2].
