ICA officers conducted further checks that uncovered his true identity and established he was wanted by the police. He was subsequently detained and handed over to the Singapore Police Force [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].

On August 11, 2026, Tan was convicted on multiple charges under the Immigration Act and Penal Code. These included failure to present a valid passport, producing a false passport, illegal departure, and failing to attend court [3, 4, 5, 6].
