Climate-tech company Eztia Materials presented its gel-based cooling wear at the Building and Construction Authority’s technology exchange event in Singapore on May 22, 2026 [1, 2]. The garments use water-based gel beads embedded in fabric to absorb body heat and reduce skin temperature by as much as 9°C.

Mr Darryl Tan, Eztia’s Asia-Pacific market lead, said the cooling effect occurs within minutes and lasts six to eight hours. He said, “(The cooling wear) reduces your skin temperature by up to 9 deg C in the first couple of minutes, and this temperature difference is sustained over the next six to eight hours.” [1]

The patented technology, called HydraVolt, works by absorbing heat from the skin and slowly evaporating water within the gel beads, creating a sustained cooling sensation [1, 2]. After several hours, the gel flattens and users need to “refuel” the garments by soaking or washing to restore the water content.

Eztia’s product range includes an innerwear singlet, arm sleeves, a bandana, and a scarf-like wrap, priced respectively at about US$57, US$37, and US$25 [1, 2]. Each item can last between three and six months before replacement is recommended.

Founded in California in 2022, Eztia expanded to Singapore in 2025 to develop and promote cooling wear adapted for hot climates [1, 2]. The company gained recognition by becoming a finalist at Temasek Foundation’s The Liveability Challenge and winning the Dimension X Award at the Slingshot 2025 deep-tech startup competition [1, 2].

The technology exchange event showcased Eztia’s gel cooling apparel as a practical climate-tech solution for wearable heat relief in tropical environments [1, 2]. The company continues to refine its products and plans further trials to validate performance and user comfort.
