Two Malaysian nationals, Muhammad Haiqal Zaini (22) and Muhammad Musray (21), were caught transporting 3,480 vape-related devices into Singapore through Woodlands Checkpoint in June 2025 [1, 2]. Haiqal pleaded guilty to importing 2,800 vape pods and 680 cartridges and was sentenced on June 5, 2025, to 18 weeks’ jail [1, 2]. Musray was convicted on a similar charge earlier in February 2025 and sentenced to 20 weeks’ jail [1, 2].
Both men were employed by a man known only as "Din" or "Faie," who coordinated the import operations [1, 2]. Prior to their arrest, they had slipped through Singapore with an earlier consignment of vape pods and cartridges loaded onto a Singapore-registered lorry, acting under Din’s instructions [1, 2].
Musray earned RM550 (about SGD 167) for the first delivery and was to receive RM1,100 for the second, while Haiqal was paid RM150 for the first and promised RM100 for the second delivery [1, 2].
On June 17, 2025, Din packed eight boxes containing the 3,480 vape devices into a car, picked up Musray in Desaru and Haiqal in Pasir Gudang, both in Johor, Malaysia. Musray then drove the car to Woodlands Checkpoint where both men were arrested by Singapore authorities [1, 2].
Musray’s conviction and sentencing occurred in February 2025, followed by Haiqal’s guilty plea and sentencing in June 2025. Their latest capture at Woodlands Checkpoint on June 17, 2025, ended their smuggling attempts [1, 2].
