Dawsons have previewed key horses set to run in the upcoming Winter Stakes races across five events, four at 1,200 meters and one at 1,600 meters [1, 2].

In Race 1 (1,200m), TENAREEF, a visiting horse from a leading stable, attracted market support on debut finishing fourth in a strong time [1, 2]. Other notable entrants include LENOXX, who narrowly lost last time and is showing steady improvement, DEONARIE who debuted at long odds drawn next to LENOXX, and KID FROM THE SOUTH, who performed well on soft ground and gained market backing on debut [1, 2].

Race 2 (1,200m) features SWEET GREEN, who was a beaten favorite in her last run after a promising debut and has since been rested with an eye on progression [1, 2]. PACIFIC MOOD, drawing widest, showed promise despite racing green on debut, and experience should benefit her. QUERARISTINYFERARI has underperformed in her last two runs on Polytrack but the return to turf may improve her chances. First-time runner SWEET CHERRY has drawn well and is one to watch in the betting market [1, 2].

Trainer Ricky Maingard’s runners remain unbeaten since arriving in KwaZulu-Natal and his ZAGREB aims to continue that record in Race 3 (1,200m) [1, 2]. LIGHT THE FIRE recently finished close behind top runners Viking Leader and Pretti United, while BARRY’S BOY should benefit from weight relief and experience after being caught late on Polytrack. UBUNTU OF PEACE, starting at long odds in his Poly debut, is expected to improve, and DONMAGOO has consistent form with a good draw for the race [1, 2].

Race 4 (1,200m) sees DEFINITELY YES coming off two solid Polytrack starts from wide draws while carrying a 4kg claimer. LITTLE BOY BLUE outperformed him on Poly debut but now carries 5kg more in the handicap. BANGLADESH, returning from a long break, won well despite some issues and appears fit and on the rise. GORGEOUS GUY, dropping in ratings and drawn best, has been consistent on turf and could do well switching back to Polytrack [1, 2].

The highlight longer race, Race 5 (1,600m), features MOHAVE PRINCE, who is in impressive form with three wins from his last four starts [1, 2].
