AC Milan announced the signing of 25-year-old Portugal forward Goncalo Ramos on June 30. Ramos joined from Paris St Germain on a contract running until June 2031 [1, 2].
The Italian club paid more than €70 million (about £60 million or $80 million) for Ramos, making him the most expensive signing in AC Milan's history. The previous record was held by winger Rafael Leao, who cost about £42 million in 2019 [1, 3, 2].
Ramos is the first major signing under new Milan coach Ruben Amorim, who took over in May after Massimiliano Allegri was sacked. Amorim signed a two-year contract following Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League due to poor form [1, 3, 2].
Ramos began his career in the youth teams of Olhanense and Benfica. He made his senior debut for Benfica in 2020, scoring 41 goals in over 100 appearances [1, 2]. He joined PSG in 2023, making 131 appearances across all competitions and scoring 45 goals. Ramos helped PSG win 12 trophies during his time there, including two consecutive Champions League titles [1, 2].
On June 17, Ramos featured in the final stages of Portugal's World Cup group stage match against the Democratic Republic of Congo [1, 2].
AC Milan's announcement comes shortly after Ramos' World Cup appearance. The club and player will now focus on the 2026-27 season with Ramos expected to play a key role in Milan's squad under Amorim.
