The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced in April it would fund LIV Golf only through the 2026 season, creating uncertainty about the tour's future beyond this year [1, 2, 3]. PIF has invested an estimated $6 billion in LIV Golf since its founding [1, 2, 3, 4].
LIV Golf currently has four remaining tournaments scheduled in 2026: the United Kingdom event at JCB Golf & Country Club from July 23-26, New York at Trump National Golf Club from August 6-9, Indianapolis from August 20-23, and Michigan from August 27-30 [1, 2, 5]. The LIV New Orleans event planned for July was canceled [1, 2, 3].
Concerns persist over whether all remaining events will take place. A high-ranking LIV Golf partner executive told Front Office Sports, "Every remaining tournament is on the fence. LIV Golf doesn’t know if or when the PIF will shut off the spigot" [1].
Scott O’Neil, LIV Golf CEO, emphasized that PIF has been clear about funding the tour through the 2026 season and said, "I can say they've been terrific partners so far, and you have to take an incredible organization like PIF at their word. They've been very public about funding us through the season, so we are full steam ahead" [6]. However, he did not guarantee all remaining events will happen. Instead, O’Neil encouraged investment saying, "What I can guarantee is a heck of a return if you come invest in this business" and added, "We have incredible business momentum. What we don't have is a lot of time. So we're very urgently out there talking to those who are interested" [6, 5].
Since May 2026, LIV Golf has launched an investor roadshow aiming to raise $350 million to continue operations beyond PIF funding [6, 3, 5]. O’Neil said the tour aims to adopt a more disciplined business model and target profitability within three years if new financing is secured [3, 5].
The New York event is seen as most likely to occur, partly due to its location at the Trump National Golf Club and Donald Trump's ties to Saudi Arabia [1, 2, 3]. Confidence is lower for the last two U.S. events in Indianapolis and Michigan [1, 2, 3].
The tour’s next event is the LIV Golf United Kingdom tournament at JCB Golf & Country Club, scheduled for July 23-26, 2026 [1, 2, 5].
