Max Verstappen is competing for the first time in the Nuerburgring 24 Hours this weekend, driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Team Verstappen Racing alongside Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer [1, 2].
The endurance race starts on Saturday at the Nuerburgring circuit, also known as the "Green Hell". The event features 161 entries, the largest grid in more than 10 years, including nine car brands in the SP9 class such as Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche [1, 2].
The race is held annually since 1970 over a 25-kilometre (16-mile) loop that combines the Nordschleife and the modern grand prix track layouts [1, 2].
Verstappen, who has 71 Formula One Grand Prix wins, has competed in other Nuerburgring races to build experience and impressed during qualifying [1, 2]. "The 24h Nuerburgring is a race that’s been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m really thrilled we can make it happen now," he said [1].
Multi-day weekend tickets sold out for the first time in the history of the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nuerburgring, with organisers warning no tickets will be available at the box office and asking fans not to travel without a valid ticket [1, 2].
Verstappen’s entry was confirmed in March 2026 with support from Red Bull [1, 2]. The weekend’s race runs from May 16 to 17, marking a major highlight in the event’s long history.
