Panova, trained by Chris Waller, is targeting the Group 1 Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm on June 6, with prize money of A$700,000 on offer. The 2200m race will feature Panova, the 5-1 second favourite behind stablemate Chispa, who is at 7-2 odds[citation needed] [1, 2].

Panova won the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on April 25, showcasing her capability at the top level[citation needed] [1, 2]. Chris Waller, a 15-time Sydney champion trainer, has secured 21 Group 1 winners this season, highlighting his strong hand in the fillies’ division [1, 2].

Chispa, Panova’s stablemate and favourite for the Oaks, finished second in the Group 2 The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on May 23 behind Fireball Miss [1, 2]. Several other key runners from The Roses, including Grand Omaha, Single Red, Parvenu, Soverato, and Probability Theory, are expected to contest the Queensland Oaks as well [1, 2].

Angel City, trained by Matthew Smith, placed a close second to Agent Zero over 1800m at Randwick on May 23 and is aiming to enter the Oaks field. Smith said, "I think we are about 24th in order of entry for the Oaks. But we will definitely have a shot if we can get her in. If she doesn’t, then there is a 2,000m at Randwick on Saturday we could run her. But I’d love to get her into the Oaks, as she has had a good foundation for the 2,200m and I think she is going very well." Sunsprite, trained by Annabel and Rob Archibald and third in the same Randwick race, is also trying to gain entry [1, 2].

Sheza Alibi remains the only three-year-old filly to have won twice at Group 1 level in Australia this season, claiming wins in the Randwick Guineas and Doncaster Mile, both over a mile. She is currently spelling ahead of a spring campaign targeting the lucrative The Everest and Golden Eagle races at Royal Randwick on October 31 [1, 2].
