SPH Media hosted the inaugural Football Fiesta 2026, a five-a-side corporate football tournament involving 18 companies, on June 7 at the Lion City Sailors Training Centre in Singapore [1, 2, 3]. Science Centre Singapore won the tournament after a 0-0 draw with SMRT in the final, prevailing 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out [1, 2, 3]. The champions received a SGD 5,000 winner’s cheque [1, 2, 3].

The event also raised SGD 10,000 for SportCares, a community sports charity that supports grassroots sports initiatives [1, 2, 3]. Embassy of Mexico and the Canadian High Commission participated as diplomatic partners, sending their own teams to compete [1, 2, 3].

SPH Media chief executive Chan Yeng Kit said the tournament aimed to promote camaraderie, teamwork, and cross-industry connections. He noted it was fitting to hold the tournament in a FIFA World Cup year, saying football "has a unique way of connecting people across cultures, industries and communities. It embodies how success is built not only on individual talent, but also on trust, communication and, most importantly, teamwork. These values are just as important not just on the field but in the workplace as well" [1].

Genevieve Martel from the Canadian High Commission said the event "allows us to meet new people and we’re always up for doing diffe" [1].

The tournament marked the first edition of the SPH Media Football Fiesta and established a new platform for corporate football matches in Singapore. The next edition date or plans have not yet been announced.
