In a media statement issued June 1 ahead of the leadership change, the club outlined a renewed focus on football development, supporter engagement, and building a foundation for sustained success [1, 2, 3, 4]. Nair said, “We thought that we could actually do something positive for Singapore football. It’s easy to criticise from behind a desk, but we wanted to be people who would actually go out and try and do something. We are excited by the opportunity and what we want to do is to build a sustainable and professionally run football club” [1].
