Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) officially launched a paid service called Truth API on August 1, 2026. The API provides institutional customers near real-time access to posts from high-ranking Truth Social accounts, including likely posts from former President Donald Trump, who has about 13 million followers on the platform [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Truth API delivers these posts to subscribers within milliseconds, faster than public users can see them on Truth Social or via third-party alerts. Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media, said the service offers "authorized real-time data from the platform's most market-influential accounts," targeting firms such as trading companies [3, 5].

The subscription fee reportedly ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 per month. At least five high-frequency and algorithmic trading firms have signed up shortly after the launch, according to sources, though customers remain anonymous [1, 3, 6, 7]. Analyst Hogan from B. Riley Wealth Management explained the concept as providing "instant advantage" to the fastest investors and algorithms reacting to posts [6].

Trump and his family hold a majority stake in TMTG through a revocable trust, owning about 41-41.5% of the company [3, 6, 7]. Trump uses his Truth Social account to share market-moving information on topics like trade policy and foreign affairs. For example, on August 1, 2026, Trump posted about a near deal to end the war with Iran, triggering a sharp drop in crude oil prices when markets reopened [1, 5, 6, 7].

TMTG sees Truth API as a way to generate steady new revenue beyond its primarily advertising-based business, which has faced losses [1, 3]. However, the service has sparked legal and ethical concerns. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff, and Mark Warner requested a SEC investigation into possible market manipulation, insider trading risks, and conflicts of interest due to Trump’s ownership stake and position [3, 4, 6, 7]. Warren and Schiff said the service "may involve market manipulation and insider trading risk, using presidential power for personal gain that harms ordinary investors and market trust" [3].

TMTG denies the allegations, stating that Truth API only provides access to publicly posted information, not non-public government data, and does not constitute insider trading [4, 7]. Other media organizations and exchanges also sell near real-time data feeds, making the business model not unique [4].

Trump’s net worth has increased significantly since his 2024 election victory, partly due to business ventures including TMTG. Public polls show 64% believe he pursues personal economic interests excessively while in office [6].

The Truth API product was first introduced on July 15, 2026, and TMTG’s stock rose 5.5% just before the launch on July 31 [3, 6]. The SEC inquiry initiated by the senators is ongoing following their formal request on August 4, 2026 [3, 4].
