Microsoft is releasing a limited-edition translucent green Xbox Series X console for its 25th anniversary, priced between $899.99 and $900. The console features 1TB of storage, a unique laser engraving with individual numbering, and includes a full-game digital download of Halo: Campaign Evolved [1, 2, 3, 4].

Preorders for the anniversary console start on August 27 at 7 AM PDT / 10 AM EDT. Initial access is limited to select fans who received email invitations, before opening to the general public [1, 2, 3, 4]. Most sources list the console's official release date as November 13, 2026, though Engadget reports shipments will begin two days later, on November 15 [1, 2, 3, 4].

Alongside the console, Microsoft will offer a matching translucent OG Green Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. It features classic design elements like the original Xbox logo, ABXY button colors, and unique green and white bumpers. The controller is priced from $79.99 to $80 with preorders available now. It will launch on October 20, 2026 [1, 3, 5, 4]. Microsoft called it "the first green X bursting through" to honor the original Xbox’s design legacy [5].

At Xbox FanFest, Microsoft CEO Asha Sharma announced that attendees with a fan badge would receive a free Xbox Series X25 console, saying "anyone in the crowd with a ‘fan’ badge would be getting one of the consoles for free" [2]. Beyond the console and controller, limited-edition accessories in the OG Green colorway, such as a keyboard, mouse, earbuds, and mobile controllers, will also launch [2].

The standard Xbox Series X recently experienced a price hike to $799.99, making the special edition a premium offering for collectors and fans [1, 4]. The anniversary edition's laser-engraved numbering adds exclusivity.

The countdown to preorder opens tomorrow, August 27, when the limited edition console and matching controller become available to the public following initial fan access. The official console release will arrive in mid-November, ahead of the holiday season.
