Apple launched a new version of its polishing cloth on August 25, reducing the price in the US to $9 from the previous $19 while maintaining the same soft microfiber material compatible with all Apple displays, including nano-texture coatings [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].
The cloth also works for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Studio Display screens [2, 3, 4]. New Mac Mini and Mac Studio models do not have built-in screens, so the cloth is intended for use mainly with separate display products like the Studio Display [2].
In Asia, Apple matched the US price reduction. In Taiwan, the cloth now costs 290 NTD, down from 590 NTD previously [4, 5]. In China, the price dropped from 145 RMB to 69 RMB, nearly halving the cost as well [3].
The cloth’s size remains similar or the same as the first generation, which was widely mocked for its high price but still sold well as a popular Apple accessory [3].
Apple’s price cut stands out this year as most of its products have seen price increases [3]. The new cloth was made available for purchase online starting August 25 at the lower pricing [1, 2].
