Apple plans to make the Camera app in iOS 27 fully customizable, allowing users to select their own set of controls called widgets that appear along the top of the interface [1, 2].

The widgets will be divided into three categories: basic, manual, and settings, with different widget sets available for each capture mode [1]. Users can switch between default widgets, an advanced option array, or build a custom set from an "Add Widgets" tray [1, 2].

Advanced controls will include depth-of-field adjustments, exposure settings, and Apple’s photo styles feature among other options to enhance photography [1, 2]. New grid and level overlays will also help improve image composition [2].

The toggle to access all camera controls will move from the top right of the screen to the right side of the shutter button for easier reach [2].

A new Siri mode within the Camera app will introduce AI-powered visual intelligence features such as image search and text translation, enabling smarter photo interactions [1, 2].

Separately, Apple will update Siri across iOS 27 with design changes including moving the glowing animation to the Dynamic Island and replacing Spotlight Search with a "Search or Ask" interface [1, 2]. Siri will support chat-style conversations, typed input, and integration with third-party AI models [1, 2].

Other apps set for redesign or new features include Image Playground, Safari’s start page, and the Weather app, which gains a "Conditions" section [1]. Performance improvements and AI advancements will be broader themes throughout the iOS 27 release [2].

Apple is expected to highlight iOS 27’s Camera customization, AI upgrades, and performance improvements at WWDC 2026, scheduled for June 2026 [2].
