Sony launched the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, a wearable personal air conditioner that sits at the base of the neck and cools through a chilled metal plate using the Peltier effect. [1, 2]
The company said the new model delivers 20% better cooling performance and can lower the surface temperature by 2 degrees Celsius. Sony also said it uses an “evolved cooling algorithm” and a redesigned body meant to feel more comfortable and to stay discreet under shirts. [1, 2]
Sony said the device has upgraded flexible arms, or fins, that hold it more securely around the neck and upper back, improving stability during wear. The company described the fit as 40% more stable in one of its product materials. [1, 2]
The Reon Pocket line dates back to Sony’s first reveal of the wearable cooling device in 2019, after development work began in 2017. Sony later positioned the product ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. [1, 2]
Sony also introduced a second-generation Pocket Tag sensor that measures temperature and humidity, and said the sensor is 18% smaller. It said the Reon Pocket Pro Plus will launch in Europe and the UK at €229/£199, although one company source listed the price as £199 in the UK and €220 elsewhere in Europe. Sony has not confirmed US availability. [1, 2]
