X rolled out a new History tab on its iOS app starting May 12, 2026, replacing the previous Bookmarks button in the app’s left-side menu [1]. The tab consolidates bookmarks, likes, videos, and articles in one private space visible only to the user [2, 1]. Bookmarks and likes represent content intentionally saved by users, while videos and articles automatically reflect content users have watched or read on X [2, 1].

The company aims to improve how users catch up on long-form content with the update. X head of product Nikita Bier said, "The Timeline moves fast, so we hope this creates a better place for catching up on long-form content" [1]. The change may encourage more use of X’s article format by making it easier to find saved and consumed material in one place [2, 1].

This update currently applies to X’s iOS app. It replaces the familiar Bookmarks button with a broader hub that integrates user interactions, viewing history, and saved posts [2, 1]. The History tab is designed as a private feature, ensuring content is only visible to individual users [2, 1].

The rollout began with iOS devices on May 12 and so far applies exclusively to that platform [1].
