Ferrari’s first all-electric Luce sells for record $40 million at Sotheby’s auction

Ferrari’s inaugural all-electric model, the Luce, fetched $40 million at a Sotheby’s charity auction held in Monterey, California over the weekend, setting a new record auction price for a new car worldwide ^{[1, 2, 3, 4]}. Designed by LoveFrom, the studio founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive, the Luce represents a break from Ferrari’s combustion engine heritage. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna defended the car, saying, “The Ferrari Luce has nothing to do with electric cars you have seen from other players.
