Far Far West launched on Steam in early May and quickly drew enough players to overwhelm its servers, after a strong run at Steam Next Fest in February. [1]
Evil Raptor said the outage was not caused by capacity limits. The studio said its network provider's anti-DDoS system was triggered by the sudden spike in player activity, which blocked public lobbies and promo code claims in game. [1]
The game is still playable in solo mode, or through direct invites and session codes with friends. Evil Raptor said it is working on a fix and testing a patch in the Far Far West beta branch that would reduce reliance on the central network provider. [1]
The studio also told players that its service provider was "currently drinking mojitos instead of helping," and said it hoped the servers would hold from now on. [1]
A dedicated Far Far West Beta Discord is now open for players to test the patch and send feedback. [1]
