Fortnite began offering players a free 10-minute sneak peek of the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu starting May 19 at 10 a.m. ET [1, 2]. The preview is hosted on the "Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island," a virtual environment created by Fairview Portals and Beyond Creative that is designed to resemble the fictional planet Nevarro [1, 2].

On the island, players take on the role of Deputies and undertake quests including collecting bounties, finding Grogu, and defending the city from Stormtrooper waves [1, 2]. The Fortnite team explained, "Once you've spent 20 minutes exploring Nevarro you'll unlock the exclusive Mandalorian Sanctuary loading screen!" [2]. Spending 20 minutes on the island rewards players with this exclusive loading screen [1, 2].

The Mandalorian and Grogu film stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta, and opens in theaters on May 22 [1, 2]. Polygon's reviewer noted the first 15 minutes of the film "feel more like a Star Wars video game or Netflix show than a blockbuster movie" [1].

Fortnite plans to reuse the Watch Party Island on May 26 to host a post-release Q&A session with the movie’s director, Jon Favreau [1]. This event offers players a chance to engage with the creators shortly after the film’s theatrical release.
