GTA: Carcer City has released its first playable demo, bringing its San Andreas total conversion mod inspired by Rockstar's Manhunt to players. [1]
The mod recreates all of the original Manhunt levels inside an open-world crime sim. Its version of Carcer City is described as drawing inspiration from Cleveland and Detroit. [1]
The modders said the map is mostly original work. Mattineu said in a video description that less than 10 percent comes from Manhunt, about 85 percent was built by the team, and the rest uses older mods with permission. [1]
The story follows Liam O’Mulligan, a former detective expelled from the Carcer City Police Department, who is pulled into the city's underworld after a job goes wrong. The modders' YouTube video description says: “Almost a decade after being unfairly expelled from the Carcer City Police Department, Liam O’Mulligan is still picking up the pieces.” [1]
The demo gives the project its first public playable release as of 2026-05-05. [1]
