A small group of protesters gathered at Electronic Arts' headquarters in Redwood City, California, on May 11 to oppose the Saudi Arabia-led takeover of the video game company. [1, 2]
The protest was organized with the Players Alliance and focused on the deal as well as wider anger over corporate greed in the video game industry. [1, 2] One protester, Zefrine, said, "Gamers raided EA’s HQ because we’re no longer willing to sit back while private equity firms and corporate executives turn gaming into another industry built on ripping off consumers." [2]
The group tried to deliver a petition with more than 70,000 signatures to EA leadership, and said it had also emailed the petition to CEO Andrew Wilson and to the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. [1, 2] The petition came as the deal, announced in September 2025, was reported as a $55 billion buyout set to close in summer 2026. [1]
The demonstration also tied the takeover to EA layoffs and in-game microtransactions. [1] One report said protesters displayed a 50-foot sheet of signatures, while another said EA had put up barricades around the Madden field before the protest and that the crowd believed the barriers were meant to keep them off the field. [1, 2] Another participant, SlayerKase, said, "Here we are at was once a great American company." [1]
The protest remained peaceful and did not appear to cause any problems with EA security. [1]
