Rockstar Games announced a partnership with the popular roleplaying community Nopixel to create an official GTA Online RP server called Nopixel V [1, 2, 3]. The server will enter a closed beta phase on September 8, 2026, which will be invite-only for select content creators and well-known roleplayers, not open to the public [1, 3].
Nopixel V will be accessible via Rockstar’s official Games Launcher, removing the need for third-party tools commonly used in unofficial RP servers [1, 2, 3]. This marks a significant step, as Rockstar previously acquired the developers behind the FiveM mod platform and took measures to limit unofficial roleplay servers before opting to collaborate with Nopixel directly [1, 2].
The new server includes a reworked character creator, a revamped map featuring new landmarks such as the completed Mile High Club building, enhanced graphics, and more reactive pedestrian AI [1, 2, 3]. Players will be able to own up to 1,000 properties within the game’s world, further expanding roleplaying opportunities [3].
Rockstar described the project as "finally throwing its weight behind nopixel, a group that has long redefined roleplay via deep immersion and custom map tweaks" [1]. The Nopixel team added that collaboration with Rockstar has been key in pushing what’s possible within GTA Online: "Our teams have worked together to develop new capabilities and refine tools" to deliver the release [3].
Nopixel V is positioned as an evolution of the existing GTA 5 RP community, emphasizing immersive roleplay driven by player narrative and law enforcement interaction [1, 3]. Rockstar has not provided details about how Nopixel V might relate to GTA 6’s multiplayer or whether a similar roleplay server will accompany the next main game [2, 3].
The closed beta launch on September 8 will give invited players early access to begin exploring the new mechanics and world of Nopixel V [1, 2, 3].
