Terraria has sold 70 million copies worldwide across PC, console, and mobile platforms, the developer Re-Logic announced on May 16, 2026, as part of the game’s 15th anniversary celebrations [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Sales break down to 39.6 million copies on PC (Steam), 10.7 million on consoles, and 19.7 million on mobile devices [1, 3, 4, 5].
On average, Terraria players on PC have logged more than 101 hours and 18 minutes of playtime, with about 461,000 daily players on the platform and 237,000 playing with mods using tModLoader, which has been downloaded 12.3 million times on Steam [1].
Terraria’s sales surpass those of major titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Pokémon Red & Blue, confirming its status as a long-lasting favorite in the gaming community [1].
Re-Logic said an update numbered 1.4.6 will arrive soon, bringing cross-play functionality to the game for the first time [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. The company pledged that updates will continue beyond 1.4.6 with more content still planned. “Terraria updates will continue beyond 1.4.6/Crossplay,” Re-Logic said [1].
Reflecting on the milestone, the developer said, "Simply put, you all are the engine that makes this all work. Your support allows us to keep going, keep expanding upon Terraria, without having to fall back to price increases or microtransactions. This is becoming increasingly rare in modern gaming, and we cannot thank you enough for making what we do every day possible" [2].
Re-Logic also expressed appreciation for players of all experience levels: "From the hardcore players with thousands of hours to those just discovering our 'metroidvania in a sandbox' today... each and every one of you are precious to us" [3]. Another statement said, "The world of Terraria remains and will remain vibrant and alive for as long as we have anything to say about it" [5].
As part of the celebrations, Re-Logic plans to release a 15th anniversary collector’s edition and a retrospective book titled "Terraria: Design Works." Pre-orders for the book open on May 28, and full details and pre-orders for the collector's edition will follow in June 2026 [1, 2, 3, 5].
