Ubisoft unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics on August 21 at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The game is the first single-player Rainbow Six since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in 2008 and will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027 [1, 2, 3].
Rainbow Six Tactics features 15 fan-favorite Operators from Rainbow Six Siege, including Ash, Sledge, and Doc. Players control Paul 'Six' Bishop, the protagonist from Rainbow Six Vegas, who leads the squad remotely. Gameplay is isometric and turn-based, with tactical squad coordination and breach planning reminiscent of XCOM games [1, 2, 4, 3].
The campaign is set during the Rainbow organization's collapse between the 10th and 11th years of Rainbow Six Siege's timeline. Ubisoft Paris—known for Mario + Rabbids and recent Ghost Recon titles—is developing the game [2, 3].
The game will include around 45 to 47 handcrafted maps and over 90 minutes of cutscenes, with no in-game store or microtransactions. Ubisoft confirmed a $50 launch price [2, 3].
An optional permadeath and Ironman mode will be available, where Operators lost in battle cannot be used again. "We know it’s a must-have for tactical fans," said Martial Potron. He added that the Ironman mode can be enabled on any difficulty to increase tension and risk [4].
Potron also noted, "Tactical-game fans have very high expectations, so R6 Tactics has to stand as a strong tactics game before it can succeed as a Rainbow Six game" [4].
The game’s official release window is set for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S [1, 2, 3].
