Ubisoft is partnering with Unsolved Hunts on Gold & Crystal – The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway, a real-world treasure hunt tied to Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and set in the Caribbean. [1, 2, 3]
The advertised prize is $500,000, made up of $350,000 in gold coins and a crystal or rock crystal skull valued at $150,000. The hunt uses 15 puzzles or riddles built around Black Flag references. [1, 2]
The Gold & Crystal website says players will “mainly rely on your historical knowledge, logic, common sense, and intuition.” No prior knowledge of Assassin's Creed or Black Flag is required, according to the reports. [1, 2]
Participation requires buying a clue pack or similar access package, with reports putting the cheapest entry at $39.99, about £31 or around $40 to $41. Higher tiers include a $230, or £177, Pirate Lord Pack. Team play is encouraged, but only one person can be named to receive the prize. [1, 2, 3]
The hunt is expected to run for 2 to 5 years, and full access begins on Nov. 9. Ubisoft also says Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled for release on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X/S. [1, 2, 3]
