Ubisoft released the final content update 1.1.11, titled Black Tides, for Assassin's Creed Shadows on June 16, 2026, wrapping up the story of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke and linking to the upcoming Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced game [1, 2, 3, 4].

The update adds the "Black Tides" mission featuring a major Templar threat and introduces new antagonists called the Black Cross [1, 2, 3, 4]. It also launches a new endgame challenge mode called Domains. This mode includes 10 levels of difficult Animus simulations with RPG-style build crafting, designed to push players with modifiers that "make you rethink your loadouts," according to Ubisoft [1, 2, 3].

Completing crossover Animus anomalies in Shadows unlocks outfits, weapons, and trinkets usable or referenced in Black Flag Resynced, including Edward Kenway's iconic outfit [1, 2, 3, 4]. However, these crossover anomalies are not available on the Nintendo Switch 2, though Switch users receive performance improvements in handheld mode [1].

Simon Lemay-Comtois, assistant game director of Shadows, confirmed the final update and expressed hope players enjoy the conclusion of Sengoku-era Japan’s story. He said, "Here we are, at the end of all things. We really hope you'll enjoy what we've been cooking for this last chapter of Sengoku-era Japan. Experiencing this adventure alongside each and every one of you has been truly inspiring" [2, 3].

The final update also links narrative elements to Assassin's Creed Odyssey and hints at further important lore within the Japan setting of Shadows [4]. It came shortly after Ubisoft announced studio closures and company restructuring [3].

Ubisoft had previously confirmed winding down support for Shadows with one major post-launch expansion and this last update [2]. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026 [1, 3, 4].
