Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a 2025 soulslike game that sold over five million copies worldwide, is set for a sequel led by its original director Xia Siyuan [1, 2]. Xia left the original developer Leenzee at the end of 2025, after which the studio disbanded [1, 3, 4, 2].

In April 2026, Digital Bros, parent company of publisher 505 Games, acquired the Wuchang intellectual property rights from Leenzee for roughly 4 to 4.6 million euros (~$4.6 million) [1, 5, 2]. On July 29, 505 Games announced its partnership with Xia Siyuan’s new studio Indolphinity, officially known as Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology, to develop the sequel [4].

505 Games will provide funding and handle global publishing for the sequel, which is currently in preparation with no release date announced yet [1, 3, 2]. An initial investment of about 21.5 million euros (~$25 million) has reportedly been made for the project [4].

The sequel’s development will remain firmly based in China to emphasize cultural heritage and authenticity. Xia Siyuan said, “As a homegrown development team made up of Chinese creators, we have always believed that a rich cultural heritage is the essence of our games and their competitive strength” [1, 3, 5, 2]. Digital Bros co-CEO Raffi Galante added, "We strongly believe in Wuchang as a long-term global franchise and aim to safeguard and amplify the original creative vision, preserving the cultural authenticity of the IP by keeping its creative heart in China" [5, 2].

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers last received updates in November 2025 before development paused following Xia’s departure and Leenzee’s dissolution [3, 4]. The next major milestone will be the sequel’s formal announcement of a release timeline, which has yet to be disclosed [3, 4, 2].
