Large shipments of Steam Frame VR headsets from Quanta Computing have arrived at Valve’s United States warehouse, marking a key step toward the product’s launch [1, 2]. The shipment weights approximately 32,000 kilograms and is estimated to contain around 40,000 units of the Steam Frame device [1].

The Steam Frame is Valve’s next-generation virtual reality headset, distinct from the previous Valve Index model. It is currently the only VR device Valve is producing [1, 2]. Industry watchers expect the device launch to occur imminently, with an estimated timeframe of three to four weeks from the shipment arrival, potentially placing the launch in July 2026 [1, 2]. XR expert Bradley Lynch noted that the US warehouse began receiving these sizeable shipments starting June 10, 2026, aligning with his estimated launch timeline based on prior Valve product rollouts [2].

Alongside the VR headset shipments, a separate consignment labeled as "Game Console" weighing 12,647 kilograms, possibly containing Steam Machines or Steam Deck units for resupply, was also noted [1].

The VR industry has recently faced challenges from global memory shortages, pushing prices higher. Valve’s pricing for the Steam Frame is expected to rise but less severely relative to competitors, partly due to the use of mobile LPDDR memory which has been less affected by price spikes, according to internal targets cited by Lynch [1, 2].

With these large shipments securely in place, Valve appears positioned to unveil the Steam Frame soon, continuing its efforts in the VR market leading up to a launch likely within the next several weeks [1, 2].
