The Aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 will resume full 24-hour operations starting from midnight on June 1, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. This follows the completion of a Comprehensive Action Plan (CAP) launched in November 2025 to address prior operational issues [1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8].

Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated, "The Comprehensive Action Plan, undertaken since November 2025, covered three structured stages: inspection and rectification works, system testing and validation, and trial operations" [3]. The CAP was led by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, working with contractors Alstom and the IJMC-Pestech joint venture, while independent technical assessors monitored progress [3, 4].

Between July 2 and September 30, 2025, the Aerotrain recorded 19 incidents involving signalling problems and human-related errors such as passengers forcing train doors open [3, 4]. In response, the CAP focused heavily on safety upgrades and system reliability improvements.

Extensive endurance tests were conducted, including 24-hour and 48-hour runs under both passenger and non-passenger conditions [1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8]. Since January 2026, the Aerotrain has achieved 100% operational availability, according to the Transport Minister: "Since January 2026, the Aerotrain has recorded 100 per cent operational service availability" [3].

Daily engineering and maintenance work will continue during the early morning hours from midnight to 5 a.m. However, a single train will remain operational for passengers during those hours to maintain continuous service [1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. Transport Minister Loke added, "The Ministry of Transport, through Apad, will continue to exercise regulatory oversight over the Aerotrain’s operations, while Malaysia Airports remains accountable for maintaining the service standards established under this plan" [8].

The restored 24-hour Aerotrain service will enhance connectivity within KLIA Terminal 1 and support airport operations after months of partial service. The next immediate milestone is the full resumption set for today, June 1, 2026, marking a return to uninterrupted service at the terminal [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8].
