Prosecutors submitted 45 documents, including recorded conversations and bank statements, to the defence in the money laundering case involving former Army Chief Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan and his wife Salwani Anuar on May 18, 2026 [1, 2, 3].

The evidence handover was conducted in line with Section 51A of the Criminal Procedure Code [1, 2, 3]. Prosecutors said three additional sets of documents will be handed over in stages over the next one to two months [1, 2, 3].

Muhammad Hafizuddeain, 58, was charged on January 22, 2026, at the Sessions Court with four counts of receiving proceeds of unlawful activities totaling RM969,000, RM474,850, RM488,550, and RM190,000 deposited into three bank accounts [1, 2, 3]. The alleged offences occurred between February 2, 2024, and November 7, 2025, at bank branches located in Jalan Melaka, Bukit Damansara, and Kuala Lumpur city centre [1, 3].

His wife, Salwani Anuar, 27, faced four counts on the same day for receiving RM50,000, RM7,000, RM10,000, and RM10,000 in unlawful proceeds deposited into a company bank account in Damansara Heights between November 24, 2024, and November 25, 2025 [1, 2, 3].

Muhammad Hafizuddeain faced two additional charges on January 23, 2026, at Shah Alam Sessions Court, involving RM115,000 and RM30,000 deposited into his bank account from February 2, 2024, to May 19, 2025, at a bank in Ampang Point, Ampang [1, 2, 3]. On January 26, Salwani was charged in Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court with receiving RM5,000 in unlawful proceeds deposited at a Jertih bank branch near Besut on January 16, 2025 [1, 2, 3].

The charges against both are under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA), carry penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment and fines of at least five times the value of the criminal proceeds or RM5 million, whichever is higher [2, 3].

The Shah Alam and Kuala Terengganu cases have been transferred to the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur to be tried with the other charges [2, 3]. Deputy Public Prosecutors Mahadi Abdul Jumaat, Farah Yasmin Salleh, and Natrah Fareha Rahmat are handling the prosecution [1, 2, 3].
