A configuration error caused SimplyGo EZ-Link and bank card transactions on August 20 and 21 to miss out on the pre-peak rail fare discount, affecting about 210,000 journeys per day, the operator said [1, 2, 3]. The Morning Pre-Peak Fare scheme offers commuters up to S$0.50 off if they tap in before 7:45 a.m. on weekdays, excluding public holidays [2, 3].

Commuters first noticed the missing discounts and reported the issue on social media platforms including Reddit on August 22, with some still seeing full fares for early taps [2, 3]. SimplyGo acknowledged the problem and fixed the configuration error on August 21, stating on its Facebook page that the correct discounted fares are now reflected and charged in the SimplyGo app [1, 2, 3].

"Commuters will now see the correct fares, with the discount applied where eligible, in the SimplyGo app. This is the fare which will be charged," SimplyGo said [2]. The company also apologized for the inconvenience and thanked commuters for their patience and understanding [3].

SimplyGo is a subsidiary of the Land Transport Authority, formed in 2024 through the merger of EZ-Link and TransitLink [2, 3].

Affected commuters can contact the SimplyGo hotline at 6883 5048 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding public holidays, for fare inquiries [1, 2, 3].
