Uber published its 10th annual Lost and Found Index on June 2, 2026, listing millions of items left in Uber rides over the past year, including robotaxi trips for the first time [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Robotaxi partners on Uber’s platform include Waymo (operating in Austin and Atlanta), Motional (Las Vegas), and Avride (Dallas) [1, 3].
Robotaxi rides represent less than 1% of total Uber trips but accounted for thousands of lost items over the year [1, 3]. Uber reported that its commercial robotaxi service began in March 2025 with Waymo launching in Austin, followed by expansions to Atlanta and partnerships with Motional and Avride through 2026 [3, 1].
The most common item lost across all Uber rides remains mobile phones, with over 1 million phones left behind in the past 12 months [2, 4, 5]. Other frequently lost items include wallets, keys, headphones, glasses, driver’s licenses, passports, luggage, clothing, shoes, and jewelry [1, 2, 4, 5]. Uber's list also features roughly 50 unusual or bizarre items such as dentures, a 15-pound green bowling ball, a jumbo yo-yo, a large black marble duck, Squishmallow toys, an "I Heart Hot Dads" bag, a Charli XCX poster, live fish, an electronic ankle monitor, mother’s milk, 420 doughnuts, and a 75-gallon fish tank [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Other notable lost items include two wedding dresses, a children’s prosthetic eye, a mini fridge, a double-door oven, a meat slicer, and a kitchen faucet [2, 4, 5].
Uber's data shows that lost items are most frequently reported on Sundays, with Monday and Tuesday being the days with the fewest lost reports [2, 4, 5]. New York City continues to top the list as the most forgetful U.S. city for lost Uber items [2, 4, 5].
Riders can report missing items through the Uber app and recover belongings either by pickup or via a $15 same-day delivery option [1, 3]. Uber holds 76% of the U.S. ride-hailing market as of 2024, according to Bloomberg Second Measure [5].
Looking ahead, Uber plans to launch an enhanced lost item reporting process through its app across the U.S. by December 2026 [5].
